BRIGADIER GENERAL THOMAS O. FLEMING JR.

Retired Sep. 1, 1997.

Retired as deputy director, plans and policy, Headquarters U.S. Pacific Command, Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii.

Brigadier General Thomas O. Fleming Jr. is commander of the 12th Flying Training Wing, Randolph Air Force Base, Texas. The wing trains Air Force pilots to be flight instructors at Air Education and Training Command’s five undergraduate pilot training bases and conducts Department of Defense undergraduate navigator training for all Air Force and some Navy and Marine Corps personnel in three training programs. The wing also trains Air Force, Navy and other military personnel from more than 20 allied countries. Two units of the wing, the 3rd Flying Training Squadron and 557th Flying Training Squadron, screen all candidates for Air Force undergraduate pilot training. Continue reading

Here’s brief update on my past since leaving Columbus in 1970.

▪   28 years in USAF, starting with a year as O-2 Nail FAC after Columbus;

▪   Flying tours that included 3 years as T-38 IP at CBM; about 10 years in F-4s, mainly at Eglin and Ramstein, Germany; a few more years in F-16s at Ramstein and Eielson; and interspersed with staff tours at Pentagon and PACOM. Commanded F-16 Sqdn in Germany and wings at Eielson and Randolph. Continue reading

“Once Tom arrived at Columbus, it didn’t take long for him to make a name for himself in three very diverse fields. His first and probably greatest accomplishments were a result of his now famous culinary abilities. Given his own kitchen, there was no limit to his creative ability. Very few of his productions can be found in any cookbook. Originality was Tom’s guideline.”
